Merge methods in Dedupely
Dedupely supports three primary ways to merge your duplicates:
1. Single merge
Great for reviewing each duplicate group manually.
- Click the checkbox next to an individual match.
- Click Merge to complete it.
- Ideal for validating merges one-by-one, especially early in your deduplication process.
2. Bulk merge
Efficient for handling large numbers of obvious duplicates.
- Click the top checkbox to select all matches on the page or use the Select All Matches button.
- Choose to merge all at once or page by page.
- Best used when you’ve already reviewed a few samples and are confident in the matching logic.
3. Auto merge
Automate your deduplication process with scheduled background merging.
- Turn on Auto Merge in the toolbar of a specific Search Pad.
- Set a frequency (e.g., ASAP, every Saturday, or every 8 hours).
- Auto Merge is great for catching new duplicates continuously with minimal effort.
We recommend using Auto Merge only after you’ve tested and confirmed your matching settings.

Custom Merge Controls
For any duplicate group, you can click directly into the match to access Custom Merge. This allows you to:
- Select which specific field values should win.
- Review side-by-side differences before confirming the merge.
Want to automate this process? Visit our guide on Merge Rules to create custom rules that define winning fields automatically.
Understanding Merge Results
All merges in Dedupely are executed inside your CRM, using your platform’s built-in merging functionality. That means:
- The behavior mirrors what you would experience if merging manually in HubSpot, Salesforce, or Pipedrive.
- You retain native control and data structure.
We never bypass your CRM’s internal logic, but with Merge Rules, you can still guide field-level outcomes. For CRM-specific info, check out:

Post-Merge Visibility
After merging:
- All merge activity is logged in your Merge History, including the winning record and its source values.
- Visual indicators (italicized and bolded fields) show which values won in your Search Pad view, especially when Merge Rules are active.
Safety features
Before performing large merges, we strongly recommend reviewing your Merge Safety Settings, including:
- Match limits
- Merge limits
- Matcher field verification
These safeguards help you avoid merging unrelated or incomplete records.
